New Delhi: Ekta Purohit
Irked over the non-payment of salaries for months, doctors under the banner of Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) on Thursday said that they will approach the court.
The doctors, who are the ones working at the hospitals run by Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), said that though they were not willing to go on an strike keeping in notice the health care of patients, but if the delay in their payment prevails strike will be the only option.
“We will approach the court over the issue. Though we are not in a favour of strike but as resident doctors are facing this assaulting situation for many months we will be bound to even go on an indefinite strike. There are no one to hear our problem. We have already given notice several times,” said Pankaj Solanki, a senior member of the FORDA.
The doctors had previously gone on a week-long strike from December 18. The strike was called off after promises were made that salaries would be paid by the end of the month.
A section of doctors have also written to the National Human Rights Commission seeking help in this regard.
Stating that instead of solving the salary issues of the doctors the Delhi Government and the MCD were playing the blame game, Solanki said: “There seems to be no end to the entire issue for months now and we are without any reason being made the scapegoats.”
Swati, another member of FORDA and General Secretary of MCD doctors association said: “We went to MCD commissioners and Delhi health minister Satyendra Jain but they are only giving assurances. We have been trying to meet CM Kejriwal but we are not getting appointment.”
