All India Government Nurses Federation (AIGNF) held a protest at Jantar Mantar against alleged “derogatory” remarks and acts against them on a popular TV comedy show and demanded an apology from the artists who made such comments.
Earlier, AIGNF had written to Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitely and Health Ministry to direct the Censor Board to ensure such instances are not repeat again and claim that the footage of May 7 and May 8 episodes of the show, in which the alleged derogatory remarks were made, be removed from the internet.
“Every profession has its own sanctity, ethics and principles. We also know that laughter is good and a need for all. But it too has a limit and one shall not cross that limit,” AIGNF Secretary General GK Khurana told.
Referring to the episodes on May 7 and 8 and also May 15 when water was thrown on the face of a nurse by an actor, Khurana said these acts have hurt the sentiments of nurses working all over the world for humanity.

Further Khurana said “We can’t accept this kind of stereotyping of women in our profession and want the Centre to intervene. The show’s makers are adamant on ruining the seriousness and the selflessness of this noble profession,”
. Another episode, telecast on May 29, raised the hackles by showing nurses as cheerleaders she added.
