Thirteen-year-old Parikul Bhardwaj received the National Bal Shakti Award for her outstanding contribution by President Ramnath Kovind on Wednesday. The Prime Minister National Bal Awards were given in two main categories – Bal Shakti Puraskar and Bal Kalyan Puraskar. Parikul will also be honored by Prime Minister Modi tomorrow! After receiving the award, Parikul was welcomed in a well-worn open jeep and everyone garlanded Parikul .
Kovind conferred the awards to 49 children in the age group of 5-18 years at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan here.
The Bal Shakti Awards were given to boys and girls for outstanding performance in the fields of exploration, studies, sports, arts and culture, social service and bravery. Hon’ble President Kovind presented these awards in the presence of Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani and other personalities at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Parikul Bharadwaj was conferred with the Bal Shakti Puraskar in order to provide medical care to the devotees who visited the difficult Shri Kedarnath pilgrimage in high altitude areas in the field of social service. Parikul had served for 45 consecutive days in the face of difficult situations. Parikul was awarded a sum of one lakh rupees, a book voucher of 10 thousand rupees, medal and certificate.

She is trained to save someone’s life in the high mountains. She is the first youngest girl to work to save the lives of people, contributing social interest through her social service activities at such heights.
She has shown exceptional, courage, bravery, passion, devoted service and commitment towards the society.
To her, pilgrims are like God, whose service believes to be their ultimate religion. Therefore, it can be said that she sees God in these pilgrims and connects them with that supreme power. She has proved pride for the nation at this very young age. Her training for this rescue work was done very strictly under the joint aegis of Six Sigma High Altitude Services, ITBP, NDRF and Air Force.
On 2 June 2019, Parikul Bhardwaj on high peaks did such an adventure by saving the lives of casualties and victims of sudden sickness due to sudden icy winds at an altitude of 14000 feet for which Parikul is proud of all over India. In such a situation, Parikul Bhardwaj first showed a quick response and then escorted him to Six Sigma camp at Kedarnath. To her, pilgrims are like God, whose service she believes to be her ultimate religion.
Parikul’s father Dr. Pradeep Bhardwaj, CEO Six Sigma said that Parikul proved pride for the nation at an early age. Her training for this rescue work has been done very strictly under the joint aegis of Six Sigma High Altitude Services, ITBP, NDRF and Air Force.
