Injecteble inactivated polio vaccine introduced in Kerala on Monday. The vaccine will be provide free of cost in all government health centers of state.
It is under the national immunization campaign and implemented by Union Health Ministry and World Health Organization.
Comparatively the injecteble vaccine is expensive from oral vaccine till this time.As all the developed countries has adopted the IPV so it is decided to introduce this Inactivated Polio Vaccine in India also.
All the government hospitals in the state will be getting the stock of IPV from the Centre in the end of this month.India is among 140 countries that rely on the oral polio vaccine (OPV). These countries have now been asked to introduce an injectable inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) into their routine childhood immunisation programme by the WHO.
The health department has decided to launch an awareness programme on the IPV in the district to dispel the fear factor against the injection.
The vaccination will be injected to children from the age of six week old to 14 years old.
