There were more than 8000 stones in the 70 -year -old elderly’s gall bladder. It seemed that it was difficult to remove these stones, but the doctors of Fortis Hospital, Gurgaon have achieved great success by extracting all 8125 stones from this elderly gallbladder within just one hour. This complex operation was completed without any major trouble and the patient’s condition is now stable.

According to the Fortis Memorial Research Institute in Gurugram  that the surgery performed in the hospital lasted for about 60 minutes while the team counted about six hours in the counting of stone. According to the statement, the patient was suffering from abdominal pain, fever in between, loss of appetite, chest and back heaviness. Gall bladder stones often cause cholesterol imbalance and can increase over time., the patient had a surgery to remove laparoscopic gallbladder on 12 May. According to the hospital, this is probably the largest number of stones extracted from the gall bladder in Delhi-NCR. According to the hospital, two days later, the patient’s condition was discharged after improving.

How did such stones form?

Dr. Amit Javed and Dr. Narola Yenger of Fortis Hospital said that the patient was having symptoms of stone pain for several days but he kept ignoring it. When the pain increased over, he finally came to the doctor. He said that after getting the patient admitted, an immediate ultrasound of the stomach was done in which there was a lot of movement in his gall bladder. It was found that the stone is now going to be out of control. The doctors hurriedly removed thousands of gallstones stored in the gall bladder by performing minimally inventory laparoscopic surgery. If this surgery was delayed, then the gall bladder would be made in the bladder and the gall bladder would be tightened, which could also contain fibrosis. This is a very dangerous situation.

Reason behind stones in gall bladder

The exact reason why stones are made in the gallbladder, ie gallbladder, is not clear yet. But doctors believe that there is a quantity of cholesterol and bilirubin behind the gallbladder formation. Usually, bile contains so many chemicals that it can digest cholesterol coming out of the liver, but if the liver makes too much cholesterol and the bile does not dissolve it, then it can gradually take the form of stones by making a crystal. On the other side, the amount of bilirubin in the bile can cause stones. Bilirubin is a chemical that is formed in the body when the red blood cells break. In some conditions, the liver starts making more bilirubin such as in diseases like liver cirrhosis, this additional bilirubin also helps to become stones.
