AYUSH ministry gifting first institute on Ayurevada and Homeopathy to North-Eastern region of country. The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEAH) , will be inaugurated at Shillong in Meghalaya tomorrow.
The institute which comprises a College of Ayurveda and a College of Homoeopathy will inaugurate by Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik .
The institute also includes a 100-bedded ayurvedic hospital and a 50-bedded homoeopathy hospital.
The institute admitted 50 students each for BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery) and BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine & Surgery) courses which commenced from November 30. Both courses are affiliated to the North Eastern Hills University (NEHU).
Seats are reserved for all states of the northeastern region along with 24 seats for the All India Open Seats Quota.
At the North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH) there is also a research and development Centre, a pharmacy and a drug testing laboratory. Later, residential quarters, hostels for undergraduate students and senior residents will be added.
According to AYUSH Ministry statement the institute has been established to promote and popularise ayurveda and homoeopathy and to create awareness among people.
