Former Prime Minister and BJP veteran leader Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee passed away today at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi.
He was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for over nine weeks, according to an official statement from the AIIMS said. The 93-year-old veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader was in a critical condition since yeasterday and was on complete life support system. His medical condition deteriorated in the last 48 hours, the doctors said.

The statement also read “despite the best efforts, we have lost Vajpayee, we join the nation in deeply mourning this great loss”
Mr. Vajpayee was admitted to the AIIMS on Jun 11 after kidney tract infection, urinary tract infection, low urine output and chest congestion.
Mr. Vajpayee had suffered a stroke in 2009 that weakened his cognitive abilities.
Several people across India arranged religious prayers for the ailing leader’s well being. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited twice in last 24 hours to AIIMS.
Vajpyee was the founding members of the Jan Sangh in 1951, Mr. Vajpayee became its president in 1968 upon theDeendayal Upadhyaya. He became thrice the Prime Minister of India.
