Union Health and Family Ministry sent a team of doctors from national capital Delhi to Kollam, Kerala on the mishap incident occurred today early morning.
Union Health Minister J P Nadda said, “The incident is very shocking and tragic. I am rushing to the spot.The injured are being taken to hospitals of Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam.
“A team of 15 doctors from Safdarjung and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital is left for Kerala. We are also sending medicines from Delhi. The team of doctors will reach as soon,” Nadda said.
The ministry deputed team of plastic surgeons to help the management of the patients who suffered from burn injuries with the state government.
According to an official in the team there were Dr.Manoj Jha, Prof.Burn and Plastic, Dr.Pradeep Kulal, Dr.Romaya, Dr.Sahil,senior residents, Dr.Rakesh, Asst.Prof.Anesthesia from Ram Manohar Lohia hospital and 2 burn specialists 1 Anesthesia with 4 senior resident doctors and 2 nurses are from Safdarjung hospital.
There were 102 persons were killed and 280 were injured during a major fire broke out in the Puttingal Devi Temple complex at nearby Paravoor early morning, when sparks emanating from a fireworks display ignited a storeroom filled with crackers and pyrotechnic material.
Thousands of people had gathered at the temple precincts to witness the fireworks display which were on since midnight when the fire broke out.
The mishap occurred at around 3.30 am, when sparks fell on the storeroom ‘Kambapura’ and exploded with a deafening noise .
