Now delhities need not to worry if they get late date for surgeries from government hospitals. On Saturday Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a scheme that facilitates free surgeries at private hospitals, which will be sponsored by the Delhi government, if the waiting period at its hospitals is long.
According to the scheme, the residents of the capital, irrespective of their economic status, can get at least 52 types of life-saving surgeries, including heart bypass, kidney stones removal, thyroid, cataract, prostrate surgery etc, done at these hospitals if the waiting period for 52 surgeries listed by the government is more than one month, patients would be eligible to get it done at 48 listed hospitals.
People from all income groups can avail of benefits of this scheme: the only eligibility criteria would be that the patient must be a Delhi resident undergoing treatment at a government hospital.
CM said “We want to ensure that people get best healthcare system where tests can be done within hospitals and surgeries could be done within a month and this is a step in that direction Kejriwal added.
Government tied up with 21 private laboratories to provide 13 expensive medical tests including CT scan and MRI to anyone coming to Delhi government hospitals, without income restrictions.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia further said the government will ensure there is enough money for the scheme. This is the third such health initiative taken by the government after free medicines at all government hospitals and free medical tests at private diagnostic centres.
