AIIMS gave 61 thousand consultations to their patients on the phone during the lockdown due to Coronavirus so that they do not have to come to the hospital. While, in the institute from 25 March to 31 May admitted over 11, 000 patients of other diseases.
Dr. Aarti Vij, the chief spokesperson of AIIMS, said that as far as treatment of Covid-19 is concerned, in its Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre Delhi and National Cancer Institute (NCI) at Jhajjar has 2,678 patients were admitted.
Around 800 Corona patients arrive daily in AIIMS
Dr. Aarti said that on an average, around 800 Corona virus infected patients came to AIIMS for treatment.
AIIMS has stopped its OPD services for two months and has also stopped all such surgeries which can be done later. This was done so that its resources could be used to prevent Pandemic.
More than 4,000 thousand surgeries performed in the emergency of AIIMS from 25 March to 31 May.
Dr. Vij said that between March 25 to May 31, 12,746 patients were seen in the Emergency Department of the hospital and 4,000 surgeries were done, including major, minor and special surgeries.
She said that during this period, about 1,800 patients were given dialysis including both Covid-19 and non-Covid patients.
The spokesman said that 11,218 employees, including medical, semi-medical, office and other support personnel of AIIMS, were trained on methods of infection prevention after the onset of the epidemic.
