Later in the evening Resident Doctors Association, AIIMS organized Candle March, as marking the day as Zero Tolerance Day and to convey message to improve and reform the health system. Dr. Harjit Singh Bhatti, General Secretary RDA and Senior Resident in Geriatric Medicine, AIIMS told Health Live “This vigil is to improve patient doctor relationship and also create awareness that doctors are overburdened with work and pressure”.
We doctors work 24×7 without any limit of work hours, we are forced to sleep on floor, pathetic hostels and miserable living conditions, sometimes we don’t get food to eat not even proper drinking water, we are forced to work on small amount of pay compared to the work we do as added by Dr.Harijit.
The main motive of the vigil is to create awareness among common people and connecting a link between doctor and patients. If people will not understand sacrifices of doctors then no one will dare to join this profession.
According to doctors government hospitals can only treat 10% of patients and this is not doctor’s fault, patient die because of disease and not because of doctor. No any complained made by them as they care for patients, worshiping the profession and above all believe in humanity but as today’s scenario they are facing worst situation as violence against doctors increased and they cannot tolerate the same.
Blood donation camp was also organized by RDA, AIIMS. Dr. Vijay Gurjar, President, Dr. Ratna Kumar, Dr. Sudeep Malla, Vice President, Dr. Shivani Dhaka, Dr. Johar Singh, Dr. Siddharth and around 300 doctors mark their presence on the day.
