The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, marked its 68th Foundation Day today with a grand celebration that showcased its enduring commitment to healthcare excellence and medical innovation. The festivities, which commenced on September 25th and will continue until September 27th, 2023, brought together esteemed dignitaries, healthcare professionals, and members of the AIIMS community.
The highlight of the event was the inauguration and the visit to the exhibition titled ‘AIIMS Leading India’s Healthcare Security.’ The exhibition was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel, who lauded AIIMS New Delhi for its tireless efforts in advancing healthcare in India. In his address, Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel said, “AIIMS New Delhi continues to be a guiding light in India’s healthcare landscape. It stands as a symbol of excellence and dedication in the service of humanity.”
The Welcome Address was delivered by the Director of AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr. (Prof.) M. Srinivas, who extended warm greetings to all attendees and emphasized AIIMS’s unwavering commitment to delivering world-class healthcare services, conducting groundbreaking research, and nurturing future healthcare professionals. Dr. (Prof.) M. Srinivas said, “Our journey over the past 68 years has been marked by remarkable achievements and unwavering dedication. AIIMS New Delhi remains committed to pushing the boundaries of medical science and delivering compassionate care.”
One of the most anticipated moments of the day was the AIIMS Diamond Jubilee Oration, delivered by Professor VK Paul, Member of NITI Aayog, who discussed India’s remarkable journey in combating COVID-19 and the vaccination drive. His insightful oration shed light on the nation’s achievements in the fight against the pandemic. Professor VK Paul said, “India’s journey in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic has been a testament to our resilience and scientific prowess. AIIMS New Delhi has played a pivotal role in this journey.”
The ceremony also featured a prestigious Awards Distribution segment presided over by the Chief Guest, Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel. Medals and Book Prizes were awarded to outstanding students and staff members who have shown exemplary dedication and excellence in their respective fields. AIIMS New Delhi also recognized noteworthy contributions to the Institute Day Exhibition with special awards.
Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel addressed the gathering and commended AIIMS New Delhi for its remarkable accomplishments and its pivotal role in shaping India’s healthcare landscape. He highlighted the institution’s role in advancing healthcare security in the nation.
As a gesture of appreciation, a memento was presented to the Chief Guest by AIIMS New Delhi. The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and attendees who graced the occasion with their presence.
