After targeting the fishing and the mining community in Goa, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), with an eye to the upcoming state polls in 2017, added its focus to the slum dwellers of the state when Delhi’s health and PWD minister Satyendar Jain visited the slums in Camarabhat and Zuarinagar on Sunday.

Here on a three-day visit, Jain interacted with the local populace and promoted the work his government is doing in the field of health and housing. He will visit Goa’s largest slum area in Chimbel on Monday.

“After talking to the people here, I noticed that the problems are very basic. People don’t have proper houses to live, there is a problem of sanitation as there are very few toilets available,” Jain said, adding that the problems are the same across India.

The senior AAP leader declared that there is no shortage of land in Goa and said that their government, if brought to power, will try to fix the problem by building permanent housing for people living in the slums. “The Delhi government is constructing 50,000 houses in Delhi to accommodate people living in dilapidated conditions. Of those, 4,000 have already been shifted to their new homes,” he said.

Targeting the BJP government, Jain said that his government would do a better job than what they’re doing in Delhi. If brought to power in a full-fledged state like Goa and Punjab.

“We plan to build 400 ‘moholla’ clinics all over Goa and a polyclinic in every constituency if we come to power. AAP will also provide quality education through its government-run schools free-of-cost,” Jain said, claiming that Delhi is a training ground.
