To serve patients by helping them through ease the services of lab testing , Delhi’s Ram Manohar Hospital has extended the laboratory services timings for twelve hours from 8.00am to 8.00pm in the evening. These services will be apart from the 24 hours emergency services which will be run with same process.

While talking with Health live Medical Superintendent Dr. Nandini Duggal  said in our  RML hospital daily more than 8 thousand patients came in OPDs, after consultation for them it’s became difficult to provide samples for testing as the registration closes at 11.30 am, but from now onwards they can share samples on the same day due to extension of timings of testing labs.

While speaking on the challenges for this new initiative Dr.Duggal mentioned that to start any new services firstly we required resources in form of manpower, but with the help of Health Ministry we were able to get outsource some of  technical staff , but still we have some limitations. Gradually, we will recruit some more staff for data entry and other services. Our labs are geared-up for more testing to cater more patients so that they can get in-house testing. On asking reason behind this decision Dr.Duggal told, earlier sometime back Union Health Ministry came with this proposal but due to shortage of staff we were note able to do so.

We are happy to share that now we can serve more patients with extended lab facilities. Patients no need to wait for next visit to hospital or to go outside for tests. The collection timings for Monday to Friday are 8 am to 5 pm and on  Saturday 8 am to 1 pm. Samples of all the patients who get registered till registration time is over will be collected and processed on the same day in the respective departments. All the Department HoDs, our resident doctors, faculties, nurses and lab technicians , are ready for this initiative she added.

“A meeting regarding extending the extension of laboratory timings was held in the chamber of the Medical Superintendent with HODs of the blood bank, Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Additional Medical Superintendent Dr (Prof) Neera Sharma and Dr (Prof) Dheeraj Bahl. It was decided that from December 12, 2022, the laboratory timings will be extended from 8 am to 8 pm.

“Dr (Prof) Dheeraj Bahl to provide one DEO for the collection centre so that registration can be done till 5:00 pm. Two security guards and two Safai Karamcharis are to be posted in the collection centre for smooth patient care services and patient crowd/queue management. Necessary instructions to be issued to In-charge security and In-charge sanitation services/ Sanitary Supervisor regarding this,” as said.

All the HODs were asked to submit their staff, resident and faculty roaster for the same.

We are making announcements in the premises of hospital, to create awareness, utilizing ‘May I Help You’ corners and putting boards and hoardings in OPDs so, that patients and their attendants may know about these services Dr.Duggal highlighted.

Earlier in the month of August  the working hours of OT were also changed  from 9 am to 4 pm which to the new working hours of 8 am to 6 pm .The decision was made seeing the high waiting ques for surgeries, now revised timings are helping doctors to conduct more operations.
