Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched Delhi’s second plasma bank at the LNJP Hospital in Delhi on Tuesday. The new plasma bank at the LNJP hospital has been set up after 15 days of the first plasma bank which was set up at the ILBS hospital Vasantkunj in Delhi.

CM Arvind Kejriwal also said that plasma has an important role in the declining death rate of Corona patients, and until a vaccine comes, plasma therapy should be looked at as an effective treatment for Corona patients. CM Arvind Kejriwal also said that even if the beds in the facilities and hospitals in Delhi are vacant now, the Delhi govt will continue its efforts of installing more facilities and beds to rule out any possibilities of lack of treatment if the cases surge in the city.
Following his visit, CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “After the huge success of our first plasma bank, we launched Delhi’s 2nd plasma bank today at LNJP Hospital #DelhiFightsCorona.”

The Delhi government has set-up India’s first plasma bank at the ILBS Hospital, to maintain a plasma stock from those who have already recovered from Corona. Addressing a press briefing a few days back, CM Arvind Kejriwal had said that plasma has been proven as an effective solution for the recovery of moderate patients, and plasma therapy should be provided to Corona patients until a vaccine comes. He said the plasma bank will enable the people to obtain plasma without any hassles, and also laid out detailed eligibility criteria over who can and cannot donate plasma.
Talking to media CM highlights “Today, Dr. Suresh and his team have started Delhi’s second plasma bank at the LNJP Hospital. Delhi was the first state to have launched India’s first plasma bank at the ILBS hospital, and soon the second plasma bank has also been started. Plasma has been proven to be helpful in the treatment of Corona patients and saving their lives until a vaccine comes. We are not claiming that 100% of lives will be saved through the plasma, but it has been effective in treating people until now. Plasma has also played an important role in the declining death rate in Delhi. LNJP is located in central Delhi, and so, it will be convenient for people to reach here and donate plasma. In the last one month, the people of Delhi, doctors, nurses, paramedic staff, governments including central and Delhi governments, religious, cultural, and voluntary organizations.”

CM Arvind Kejriwal credited the Delhi govt’s strong fight against COVID to all institutions and support from central governments and other agencies. He said that the entire foundation of the Delhi government’s fight against COVID was supported by everyone. “We realized that a huge epidemic like this cannot be fought alone. If a particular person or any government says or thinks that they can overcome the corona alone, then it is wrong. We took the support of everyone and took everyone along. We also went to the central government and social service organizations. There are many NGOs of retired doctors in Delhi, just like StepOne and Doctors For U who are helping us in this fight. We went to all the people and asked for help. All the good effects of this cooperative work are in front of us very clearly.
