We call them next to God, they are known for their services towards humanity, but they are not safe. Yes, the cases of assaulting medical practitioners are raising and there were numbers of incidents reported last year.

Seeing importance of scenario and to save themselves doctors come-up with new initiative called “SASHAKT CHIKITSAK”. Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) announced a course “Sashakt Chikitsak” an initiative to train doctors how to rescue themselves when there is a mob attack.

Dr.Sumedh , President-FORDA said ‘We have announced this course  to make resident doctors learn how to survive growing assaults on doctors.

There will be workshops on self-defence conducted nationwide and resident doctors will be offered training to learn different techniques of self-defence. The project will kick start from Dr Ram Manohar Lohia hospital Delhi.

FORDA has collaborated with a private agency to train healthcare professionals. As of now, we are working on the first module. We have asked to the Resident Doctors’ Association of all the hospitals to be a part of this initiative Dr.Sumedh added.

Appreciating the move Dr.Pankaj Solanki, Former President-FORDA and President Dharmveer Solanki hospital said “The course will definitely help doctors to save themselves against violence they face during services. I appeal medical fraternity to join hands with FORDA to make this campaign successful

.

 

The release by association also states A violent society is detrimental to the practice of humane medicine; it negates all the ‘achievements’ of modern medicine the medical profession must do more than just condemn such violence; it must reflect on the ethics of its own practice. The elements of traditional self-defence are, “where from the nature of the attack, the assailed person believes, on reasonable grounds, that he is in imminent danger of losing his life or of receiving great bodily harm from his assailant, he is not bound to retreat, but may stand his ground, and, if necessary for his own protection, may take the life of his adversary.”
