A senior faculty of the Gauhati university, whose wife died of blood infection due to a wrong surgery performed by the doctors of two Delhi based hospital, has sought  help from the Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi urging his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal to expedite the probe.

“I want the Assam CM to take up the issue with the Delhi CM to expedite the probe in the case of my wife’s death caused by medical negligence in the Delhi hospital,” said Ankuran Dutta, husband of the deceased.

Dutta has also sought help from the West Bengal CM Mama Banerjee as his wife Anamika Ray belonged to the state. However, there has been no reply from the West Bengal CM.

Ray died of blood infection and cardiac arrest at the city-based Golden Jaipur Hospital after being admitted at a critical stage.

She underwent a gallbladder surgery on July 17 , 2015 at city based Navjeevan Hospital where she was allegedly left unattended for several hours after the doctors said the patient suffered a cardiac arrest during the surgery.

The issue was taken up with the Delhi Government, which has initiated an inquiry into the case.

Dutta, who was speaking at a press conference on medical negligence here, said: “It has also been found that the hospitals have fake certification of ISO(International Standard Organisation) which is a ethical violation.”

India currently records 5.2 million medical negligence cases every year out of which nearly 1 lakh of them witness death.

Calling the negligence by doctors during patient’s treatment a medical terrorism, he said:”There are several cases of medical negligence  happening in the country , but no one raises the voice against such issues. It needs to be stopped at every cost.
