Union Health Minister For External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, discharged today from AIIMS.
Swaraj who underwent Kidney Transplant operation on 10th December 2016, has shown steady recovery and has been discharged from hospital today as Prof.Misra, Director, AIIMS said.
According to statement by AIIMS her postoperative recovery was closely monitored by a Team of Transplant Surgeons, Physicians (Nephrologist, Cardiologist, Endocrinologist, Pulmonologist) and Anaesthesist & Critical care expert, Physiotherapist, Resident doctors and Specialised Transplant Nurses.
J P Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and President, AIIMS visited minister Sushma Swaraj before her discharge and expressed satisfaction about Swaraj’s uneventful recovery.
Minister Nadda also met the team of doctors, nurses and congratulated them for care provided to the Minister For External Affairs.
A team of specialists, which included Transplant Surgeons, Nephrologist, Pulmonologist, Endocrinologist reviewed her today for her post discharge advice regarding medications.
Doctors advised her to restrict visitors to minimise the chances of infection for next 3 months at home and Office.
According to Prof.Misra, Director AIIMS, the necessary detailed advice has been given pertaining to her nutrition and diet, physiotherapy and fluid intake apart all latest biochemical tests have been normal including kidney function of minister.
We will continue to review her progress over next several weeks said Prof. M C Misra, Director, AIIMS, expressing happiness over the recovery.
Earlier Minister underwent Renal Replacement Therapy (Kidney Transplant Operation) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi on 10th December.
A dedicated team of 50 personnel were involved, comprised of transplant Surgeons (Lead by Prof. M. Minz and Prof. V. K. Bansal), Transplant Anaesthesiologists (Lead by Prof. M K Arora, Prof. Rashmi Ramchandran, Prof. Vimmi Rewari and Dr. Preet Mohinder Singh), Transplant Nurses and Technicians and other support staff, who undertook the procedure under the leadership of Prof MC Misra, Director AIIMS and Dean and HOD Cardiac Anaesthesia, AIIMS.
Operations on both the voluntary Kidney Donor and Mrs. Sushma Swaraj were smooth and uneventful. Swaraj shown speedy recovery after the operation and now she get discharged from hospital
