As continuously deaths reported in the country’s capital the Union Health Ministry ordered a probe, taking and Health Minister J P Nadda called for an urgent review meeting on Wednesday
The meetings was with the Delhi health authorities, doctors from central government hospitals and ministry officials.
The number of chikungunya cases in Delhi have mounted to over 1,000 this season, whereas dengue cases rose by around 50% in September taking the total number of cases to 1158.
While mortalities from chikungunya are rare, the latest deaths have raised concerns related to the treatment protocols and preparedness of hospitals and health authorities in the capital to tackle the flu outbreak.
