Under the Telangana Shishu Aadhar Project, a initiative of Telangana government will provide Aadhar card, birth certificate and birth defect registration to new born babies at hospitals only.
The programme, called the Telangana Sishu Aadhar Project, will be handled by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation in collaboration with the state government’s IT department. Initially, this project will be launched in 19 hospitals.
In a press communique issued by the GHMC, it stated that the vision of the project is to provide all the necessary certificates to a new-born child immediately after the birth and also push them to the digital locker. This initiative where the government issues certificates to citizens the moment the baby is born is a paradigm shift from the traditional concept where government asks citizens to apply for certificates.
