New Delhi|HL
About 91 cases of dengue recorded in July alone, according to a municipal corporation report released on Monday. While last the count was considerably low. Only six cases were reported in June and July saw 36 cases.
At least 119 dengue cases have been reported in the city this season.

With the rising number of cases, experts foresee another outbreak like situation this year. The Delhi government said it has allowed all hospitals and nursing homes to increase bed strength by 10% to 20% for three months.

Hospitals and nursing homes are told to use these beds only for fever and dengue patients.

The order further states that no hospital and nursing home can deny treatment or admission to any patient suffering from dengue.

Similar orders were issued last year as well when the disease affected over 15,000 people and claimed 60 lives in the city. To keep the treatment affordable, the government has also put a ceiling price on NS1 Ag (Elisa based) and Elisa MAC tests at Rs 600 and for platelets at Rs 50.

Any private hospital or lab which charges more than the fixed ceiling for tests will face action, officials said.

The government has also decided to restrict the sale of drugs like Aspirin, Ibuprofen and Diclofenac which causes destruction of platelets in blood. These medicines can only be sold against prescription by a registered medical practitioner.
