After a long back protest by Resident doctors on Out Patient Department (OPD) timings for six hours they call off their proposed strike from November 1 . The decision was taken by Delhi government after the meeting held between Federation Of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) at Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday.
FORDA had submitted a list of demands to the Delhi government, after it increased OPD timings. Earlier to meet the growing patient load, Delhi government had increased OPD timings from 9 am-1 pm to 8 am-2 pm. On Tuesday, the Delhi government issued a circular which states “OPD clinics will operate from 8 am to 2 pm, with a 45-minute break for the attending doctors, any time after 12.30 pm. The timings of the lunch would be decided by medical superintendents in consultation with respective HODs as per the mutual convenience of the attending doctors.”
As the proposed demands has been agreed upon we are calling off the strike keeping in mind to serve the patients and their benefits said Dr.Vivek Chouksey, President FORDA. Our priority is patient’s care he added.
At the meeting Health Secretary Rashmi Krishnan, Additional Health Secretary Sachin Shinde, Delhi government, Dr.Punita Mahajan, MS,BSA hospital, Dr.J.C.Passey, Medical Director, Lok Nayak Hospital and representatives from FORDA were present.

Dr.D.S.Meena, another veteran , FORDA told Healthlive This decision taken over OPD timings will help the doctors to work more patiently for the treatment of patients .
Another review meeting will be held in the last week of November.
