Annanth Kumar, Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilizers has announced setting up of 100 generic medicine centres in Maharashtra under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadi Yojana on Monday.
“We are currently importing 60% of the bulk drugs required for generic medicines from China and so to reduce the cost of medicines we have planned to set up the drug park in Nagpur,”said Kumar.

Minister was speaking at the press conference with CM Devendra Fadnavis. They also announced the setting up of national institute of pharma like IIT level institute to confer Masters and Doctarate degrees. Currently three of these institutes are being planned in Rajasthan, Chattisgarh and Maharashtra. This institute will come up in Nagpur and will be spread across 100 acres apart the budget provision of Rs 600 crore has been made by the central government for this project.
These projects are being set up with the view to make medical assistance cheap in the state. A medical device manufacturing park will be set up in Nagpur and a bulk drug park will be set up in Aurangabad.

With this there were many other projects also announced by the Union Minister and Cm Fadnavis.
